Consents Secured for Cowes Outer Harbour Project
15 June 2010Following months of intensive work and detailed discussions with key authorities, led by Marina Projects, the Cowes Outer Harbour Project has been issued with a favourable determination of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The EIA consent decision (refer to this link) has been made by the new Marine Management Organisation (MMO) under the Marine Works (EIA) Regs 2007. In turn this decision leads to the issuing of the various consents required for the marine related elements of the project.
This represents a major step forward for the project which has been led by a partnership of the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and the Harbour Authority Cowes Harbour Commission (CHC).
Marina Projects has been responsible for the marine consent applications and the co-ordination of a detailed and comprehensive Environmental Statement produced to support the EIA. The Environmental Statement has been the subject of extensive public consultation and rigorous review by the statutory agencies, including Natural England and the Environment Agency. The favourable EIA decision recognises the robust nature of the work produced by ABPmer with input from Marina Projects Ltd and various sub-consultants.
Marina Projects continue to support the work of planning consultant King Sturge to secure the final consent (Planning Permission) which will address the terrestrial elements of the project.
In addition, Marina Projects are engaged in the process to secure a developer partner for SEEDA. For further details of Marina Projects involvement in this project, refer to the following case study.
